On July 4, Peace Regional RCMP responded to a report around 5 p.m. of a disturbance at a local self-storage facility.

At the business, police encountered an individual exhibiting erratic behaviour who was associated to one of the storage units.

They spotted stolen property items while interacting with the individual.

An investigation began that resulted in the application for and execution of a search warrant on the storage locker.

Multiple stolen industrial equipment items were recovered as a result of the search.

  • Kyle Patrick Neel, a 36-year-old Berwyn resident, is now charged with:
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (six counts)
  • Failing to comply with conditions of a release order (three counts)
  • Failing to comply with conditions of a probation order (two counts)
  • Possession of ammunition while prohibited from doing so

After being brought before a Justice of the Peace, Neel had been remanded into custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.

Neel was scheduled to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on July 6.
